James Reynolds, Jr., CFA
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

James Reynolds, Jr. is founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Loop Capital. Mr. Reynolds, along with Albert R. Grace, Jr., founded Loop Capital in 1997 with a simple motto as a guide: “To provide client service beyond expectations.” The motto still serves as the foundational driving force of the firm.

Mr. Reynolds currently oversees all aspects of Loop Capital, including investment banking, brokerage and financial advisory services.

Mr. Reynolds has worked in the financial services industry for more than 27 years. Early in his career, Mr. Reynolds established and headed the Midwest Municipal Bond Sales Desk at PaineWebber. Subsequently, Mr. Reynolds joined the Corporate and Institutional Client Group at Merrill Lynch where he managed the municipal sales team responsible for the distribution of all tax-exempt products to institutions in the Midwest. In 1997, Mr. Reynolds collaborated with Albert R. Grace, Jr. to form Loop Capital Markets, where he has led the firm to becoming the largest minority-owned financial services firm and one of the largest privately-held investment banks in the United States. Mr. Reynolds is a CFA charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Mr. Reynolds strongly believes that successful executives have a responsibility to give back to the community. He currently serves on the boards of buildOn, Chicago United, Skills for Chicagoland’s Future and The University of Chicago Medical Center. Additionally, Mr. Reynolds serves as Vice-Chair of the board for the Chicago Urban League and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Levy Institute/ Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Previously, he was appointed by the Governor to sit on the board of the Illinois Economic Recovery Commission in 2009, and was appointed to serve on the boards of World Business Chicago and the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority by the Mayor in 2011.

Mr. Reynolds holds a Masters of Management in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. He holds series 7, 24, 53 and 63 licenses.

AppInventor is a fun and simple tool that allows our young code divas to create their own mobile apps using drag-and-drop the programming blocks similar to a puzzle to make the user interface and program. It’s that easy. You can learn how to write music apps, apps that tell your fortune, and more. Never wonder again if there’s an app for that, because you’ll be able to create your own!

No prior programming experience is required for this class. All BGC events are geared towards introducing participants to the technological universe and encouraging them to pursue careers as Tech Creators and Entrepreneurs. This ciass intended for girls ages 10-17.

James A. Bell former Chief Financial Officer for The Boeing Company

JAMES BELL

James A. Bell recently retired from The Boeing Company, where he had served as chief financial officer, executive vice president and corporate president.

As CFO, Bell had responsibility for two key Boeing businesses, Boeing Capital Corporation and Boeing Shared Services. Prior to being named CFO in 2003, Bell held the position of senior vice president of finance, corporate controller, vice president of contracts and pricing for Boeing Space and Communications, and director of business management of the Space Station Electric Power System at the Boeing Rocketdyne unit.

Bell began his career with Rockwell and attended California State University at Los Angeles where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

The Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals

The Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP), was established in 1995 to address the apparent lack of representation of black professionals in the securities and investment industry. It was also conceived as a platform to address the aspirations of those in the industry and to create a forum for black professionals to exchange Information and Ideas.

The mandate of ABSIP has evolved to encompass the empowerment of black professionals and black business across the financial industry. Its membership has grown to include sub-sectors such as Asset Management, Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance, Corporate Managerial and Financial Consulting, Employee Benefits, Insurance, Investment Banking, Retail Banking, Private Banking, Private Equity, Stock broking, Treasury and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs).

ABSIP has become widely recognised as an influential force in the transformation of the Financial Sector as evidenced by its participation in drafting the landmark Financial Sector Charter (“FSC Charter”). ABSIP is an affiliate member of the BBC (Black Business Council).

Youth competition at Google creating Black entrepreneurs

Entrepreneuring Youth has helped hundreds of youth ages 11-18 over the years by guiding and molding them into thinking and acting like entrepreneurs.

Twenty-seven aspiring young entrepreneurs representing 20 different businesses had the opportunity to compete for cash prizes and local notoriety as they presented their business ideas at Entrepreneuring Youth’s iPitch Competition at Google.

@samswey, 25, is a policy analyst and data scientist who works with communities of color to fight systemic racism through cutting-edge policies and strategies. Sam has supported movement activists across the country to collect and use data as a tool for fighting police violence through Mapping Police Violence. Sam worked at PolicyLink to support a national network of 61 Promise Neighborhoods communities to build cradle-to-career systems of support for low-income families. He also worked with city leaders, youth activists and community organizations develop comprehensive agendas to achieve quality education, health, and justice for young black men. Sam grew up in Orlando, FL, and has been involved in organizing and advocacy since he was in high school. He graduated from Stanford University in 2012, where he studied how race and racism impact the U.S. political system. sam@thisisthemovement.org

@MsPackyetti, 30, is a St. Louis native who works on issues of educational equity, quality teaching and youth leadership development, with a focus on culturally responsive leadership in marginalized communities. She has been an elementary teacher and policy advocate and expert in Washington, DC, and currently runs an education non-profit in St. Louis. In Ferguson and beyond, she has been an active protestor and activist for issues of racial and social equity. Since August 2014, she has supported organizing work including the #Ferguson Protestor Newsletter and Open Letters, and the #FergusonFireside conference calls. In 2014, Brittany helped bring community voice to the Ferguson Commission and President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing as an appointee to each. @deray, 30, is a protestor, dedicated to ending police and state violence. He is a Teach For America alum, having taught 6th grade math in NYC. He has been documenting the events of the movement via twitter and is the Founder and Co-Editor of the Ferguson Protestor Newsletter. He is an activist, organizer, and educator focusing primarily on issues impacting children, youth, and families. He previously worked for the Harlem Children’s Zone and TNTP, opened an academic enrichment center in West Baltimore, and with Baltimore City Public Schools and Minneapolis Public Schools leading systemic human capital change. deray@thisisthemovement.org

Before the death of Mike Brown, Netta volunteered with a girls group, called the Sophia Project, in the city of Saint Louis. The group focuses on helping teenage girls navigate through life. Her essay “When I close my eyes at night, I see people running from tear gas” was published in Ebony Magazine on September 9, 2014.
